[There's a really good question that Peter needs to ask himself. What bad guy hit him hard enough to knock him out and throw him all the way into Central Park? Trees and grass shouldn't have hurt so hard to make his back hurt. Okay, maybe trees. But still, it wasn't like he was slammed into another brick wall. No, it was just a really dense looking forest that definitely didn't look like it would be Central Park. That's weird. Maybe Mysterio had something to do with this. Not sure how the guy could get the jump on him like this, though.

But it seemed like he was at least hit hard enough that his clothes were knocked off. How can you even hit a guy in a skin tight costume that hard? Well, it explains how he would have gotten to a place with a ton of trees. Not good. He might actually be injured now--

[After figuring some things out and realizing that the journal actually... talks, Peter can be seen walking into the village while wearing the New Feather pants. While wandering aimlessly and looking worried, he's flipping through his journal until he figures out how to use it.]

This on? [Seems like it.] Quick show of hands. Who else is creeped out by the talking book?

[Yeah. Let's keep wandering around this weird village until someone helps him, or he finds someone he recognizes. He hope everyone is alright.]

"Trust the locals. They're friendly. Also, don't hide stuff from them, because it's a small town and it'll get out eventually."

And then your friend will decide you've betrayed him and run off to commiserate with your slightly distant apprentice.

Okay, not relevant, and certainly not what this guy needed to hear.

[Kind of a specific thing to heard, especially for a guy like Peter who has something to hide. He can't help but smile a little from it. The sound of friendly locals also help.]

I love this town. I love it. I love it so freaking much.

Drawing my composure and forcing myself not to squeal like a little girl, I continued.

"Yeah, well, it's no weirder than meeting people on the internet, when you think about it."

Point. I think it's just the fact that I'm talking to a book that makes it weird.

The glee died off a minute later.

"Trust me, around here, it's on the tame end. Our gracious hosts aren't really that gracious."

[Not gracious? That never sounds good.] ... I'm guessing you're about to hand me some bad news.

"The people who run this enclosure are a bunch of evil scientists called the Malnosso. We're here to fight their battles and live through their experiments, and so far, we can't touch them.

But at least the food is free."

I'm not... sure free food makes up for that. [Yeah. Peter's not happy with that news.]

"Yeah, frankly, I'm inclined to agree with you.

Luckily, time doesn't pass while we're here, or else I'd already have damn near killed myself trying to get home. People need me."

My daughter needed me. I'd been doing my best to not think about it, to remember that time wasn't passing there, and for the most part, it worked... but whenever I thought about it, it threatened to give me a damn coronary.

Time doesn't pass? You mean we're stuck in something like a time bubble?

[Interesting.] Do we age here?

"Yeah, but it all goes back to how it was before when you go home. It's one of the weird things- you could be here for years- a lifetime, even- but go home afterward and be returned exactly to the way you were when you left. Same condition, no injuries, no aging, no memories. Like you were never gone."

Then... nothing we do here matters?

"Well, it matters while we're here, doesn't it?"

Oh, well, yeah. That's true.

Well, sometimes I didn't believe that, but Michael did, and it was one of those things I kind of wanted him to be right about.
