[It's been a week since he arrived in Luceti, and Peter figured it was long enough a gap that Spider-Man could convincingly arrive in Luceti himself, separate from Peter. That would help diminish suspicions, right? He had to make sure that he couldn't use his powers as Peter, not even in Luceti. He couldn't take a chance. There were already at least two people who knew his identity, and that was because of back home. Cluing anyone else into the whole identity business could jeopardize someone -- like Liz or Gwen -- if they arrived in Luceti at the same time as... say, Rhino.

Not that he would remember. O'Hirn was pretty dumb.

Anyway, this was a perfect chance to dress up in the good ol' red and blue and try webslinging around the village. Keyword is try, because there weren't exactly skyscrapers in Luceti. He would have to cut it pretty close to the ground, but it was good practice. He didn't know how long he'd be stuck in the village, so navigation via webs was key. Better to practice during downtime.

And that's when he pulls out the journal to look at while swinging. Better put on his best pokerface.

... Not that people could see his face.]

[Voice]

Man, oh man. This Luceti place is nothing like the Big Apple. Too much... nature. Needs more skyscrapers. [Yeah, he kind of laughed at his own joke.] Read enough of the guide to get my bearings, but I've gotta say. I'm more impressed than freaked out.

[All the sarcasm in the world is just dripping through the feed. So is the noise of webslinging.]

It's not like a lot of baddies get the one-up on me like this. Gotta give props where it's earned. At least until I bust myself right on outta here. Then I'm just gonna have to take my props back. Got a warranty and everything. [Whoops, almost hit the ground there.] Whoa! You guys need to invest in taller buildings!

Wait, wait. Hold up for a sec. What's the "Big Apple"? Is that where you're from?

[That's kind of a funny question. Spidey doesn't regret not explaining what the Big Apple really is.]

Let me guess. Never heard of New York?

It doesn't sound unfamiliar, buuuut I probably just picked up the word around here somewhere. I've never been there.

Least you've maybe sorta heard of it. New York and the Big Apple? Same place.

I'm going to take a stab in the dark here and guess you don't really live on an apple.

[ voice ]

....You're from New York? [ All the way in America, huh. ]

[Spidey grunts a bit as he lands on the side of one of the community buildings.]

Born and raised. Way easier to websling in a place like that.

[ voice ]

Web...sling? [ What was that, even. ]

What, the New York you come from doesn't have cars or something?

[ voice ]

[wisecracking]

Of course it does. But have you seen the traffic jams?

[He makes a noise usually accompanied with shuddering.] It's a lot more efficient to just go over 'em.

[ voice ]

Huh. Makes sense. [ Though now that got her thinking... ]

What are you, then?

That's the idea, though the papers like to exaggerate.

I'm your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. You can just call me Spider-Man, because it doesn't really look like this is much of a neighborhood.

Alright.

Everything had to go right the hell on hold, and it had to do it right the hell now.

Spider-Man was webslinging through the village, at that very moment, and I was missing it.

I rushed out to try and find him, then watched appreciatively as he made his way through the village- it wasn't easy, considering the lack of height, but he managed it pretty well.

But of course he would. I mean, he's freaking Spider-Man.

As he came closer, I called out to him.

"It might be easier just to jump across rooftops."

[Action]

[wisecracking]

[Spidey would take that advice, sort of, and jump off his web to land on the side of a nearby building.]

Awww, but that's no fun! If I went around doing that, you're better off calling me Grasshopper-Man!

[Action]

"Haven't you ever heard of a jumping spider? Besides, it's a heck of a lot more awesome and dramatic than faceplanting in the dirt because you misjudge your height."

[Action]

[Point. There was also the problem of what Spidey would do if he ran out of web fluid. He didn't know if he could gather the right supplies in Luceti, and he might be better off saving the fluid for defending himself or other people.]

Hey, jumping's not my schtick. The whole web thing is. I like to save the jumping for when I gotta dropkick a guy in the face. [Yet he'll still argue it.]

Besides, practice makes perfect.

Alright, then. Time to give this guy something to think about.

I tried to keep the smirk out of my voice.

"And what if you run out of webbing?"

Too much nature, huh? I know that feeling. Luckily I already had time to adjust before I got here, I moved from a large city to a rural town a year before. I can't say I've ever heard of Big Apple City, though...

[Could be a different world.]

Big Apple's just a nickname for New York City. It's got a lot of nicknames, so I just rolled with it. Kinda forgot about most of you guys probably not coming from Earth.

I've never heard of New York City. [And pokemon franchise can't decide what their planet is called, so he's going to ignore that "Earth" comment] So it's either in a region I'm not aware of, or you're right about us coming from different places. What's it like there?

Loud. Busy. Crowded. And sometimes there's super-powered bad guys running around and giving me a hard time.

Super-powered bad guys...? I don't think we have those, unless criminals using their pokemon's powers count [or television counts]. I'm going to take a wild guess here and say you're a super-powered good guy?
